A WordPress website built for Eyriebrook Primary School in Alberton, Gauteng — a nursery and primary school transitioning under new management and growing its identity as an institution.
The project supported the school’s rebrand from its former identity as Edustart, establishing a new digital presence for an evolving educational offering.
Overview
Eyriebrook Primary School has operated for over 15 years in Brackenhurst, Alberton, originally as a nursery school and aftercare formerly known as Edustart. Following a change in management in 2021, the school began developing its offering into a full primary school while retaining its nursery and aftercare roots.
The new management needed a website that reflected this transition — one that communicated growth and stability to prospective parents while laying the groundwork for the school’s expanding identity.
My Role
- WordPress Development
- Website Design
- Content Structuring & Layout
- Hosting & Deployment
Challenge
A school in transition carries a specific communication challenge: it needs to reassure existing families while attracting new ones — all under a name and identity that was still being established.
The website needed to:
- Introduce the Eyriebrook name and story clearly to prospective parents
- Communicate the school’s core offering — nursery, primary, and aftercare
- Convey safety, warmth, and structure appropriate to young children and their parents
- Be manageable by school staff for ongoing content updates
Approach
The design leaned into the school’s nurturing environment — emphasising the safe, secure facilities, experienced staff, and the developmental philosophy underpinning their early childhood approach.
Key structural priorities:
- Clear overview of the school’s history and transition story
- Sections covering nursery, aftercare, meals, and developmental activities
- Parent-facing language focused on trust, safety, and child wellbeing
- Clean, accessible layout suited to a family audience browsing on mobile
Technical Implementation
Built on WordPress to give the school team editorial control without ongoing developer dependency:
- Responsive layout across desktop and mobile
- Content sections for school background, services, facilities, and contact
- Staff and environment details structured for easy readability
- Hosting configured and deployed via cPanel
Outcome
Delivered a live WordPress website supporting Eyriebrook’s rebrand and growth phase — giving the school a functional digital presence to accompany its transition from nursery to full primary school.
Reflection
Working with schools at an early or transitional stage taught me how much a website can carry beyond information — it signals legitimacy. For a school operating under a new name and management, looking credible online is part of how you earn parent trust before they ever visit in person.
This project, following closely after Central College High, cemented my early approach to education sector work: keep it warm, keep it clear, and build for the people who will maintain it long after you’ve handed it over.
